More eco and less waste during 2019

March 18, 2020

2019 was an important year for the sustainable food industry. At R&F Services, we made some great leaps towards a more sustainable future by adding new vegetarian dishes and reducing food waste.

Consumers are taking a bigger interest in sustainable products, with organic food sales in Europe reaching almost 40 billion in sales during 2019. For us at R&F Services, 2019 meant a lot of great and sustainable news. One of our long-term goals is to supply more ecological products and in 2019, we did just that. In fact, we supplied 10% more ecological products than we did the year before.

We also managed to significantly cut the cost of food waste and also created several vegetarian and vegan options for customers in Scandinavia and in the UK. The vegan burger, for example, was especially popular.

We chose to supply only ASC-labelled fish and shellfish with 90% of the wild caught fish coming from sustainable sources. And as impressive as that is, we wanted to become even better. That’s why all supplied fish and shellfish, starting 1 January 2020, come from sustainable sources. Fina fisken, as we like to say in Sweden.

We look forward to many more sustainable news in 2020!
